PA Development Disabilities Workshop

PASSi's Vietnamese/Chinese and Cambodian Community Coordinators recently held two outreach seminars for the Cambodian and Chinese/Vietnamese communities.  These events provided attendees with an overview of the different types of disabilities and what supports are available to help disabled adults live independent lives as members of the community.  The community coordinators also discussed the steps required to apply for services.  They also discussed the steps required to apply for services and PASSi's ability to provide linguistically and culturally targeted supportive services for disabled adults.  Several families have already expressed interest in PASSi's ability to provide linguistically and culturally targeted supportive services for disabled adults.  Dana Thompson, a program officer with the PA Developmental Disabilities Council, attended the Cambodian seminar.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English at a 7th grade level (English assessment will be conducted)
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
  • 2-Step Mantoux (PPD) test
  • Physical Exam
  • $100 Registration Fee
  • Resume
  • Personal statement (2 paragraph statement about why you want to be a Nursing Assistant)
  • Documentation that you are eligible to accept employment in the U.S.
  • Be able to stand for extensive periods, lift a minimum of 40lbs., and have full use of hands
